Job Summary
MLW is seeking professional and experienced Research Assistants – Non-Clinical to support the Infectious Disease Epidemiology (IDE) Group under the CHAMP Drug Study. Successful candidates will work full-time under the supervision of Senior Research Nurses and assist with community-based research activities in Mwanza.
Reporting To
Senior Research Nurses
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct household mapping and community-based census activities within assigned study areas.
- Identify and enumerate households and collect accurate demographic information.
- Assist with participant identification and household verification during census, enrolment, drug administration, and follow-up activities.
- Collect and manage electronic data using tablets.
- Ensure completeness, accuracy, and quality of study records.
- Maintain confidentiality of participant and household information.
- Support community engagement and sensitisation activities.
- Collaborate with supervisors and other field staff during study implementation.
- Resolve routine data queries and report operational challenges.
- Ensure proper use and accountability of study equipment and field materials.
- Maintain professional relationships with participants, guardians, community leaders, and Ministry of Health personnel.
- Participate in study training sessions, meetings, and refresher courses.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Senior Research Nurse.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Work under the supervision of the Senior Research Nurse.
- Collaborate with field and clinical staff during study activities.
- Support mentorship of newly recruited field staff when required.
Resources Managed
- Tablets and electronic data collection devices.
- Census forms and field materials.
- Study identification and mapping materials.
Qualifications and Experience
Required
- Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or its equivalent.
Added Advantage
- Training in community work, data collection, or research activities.
- Experience in household surveys, census activities, community-based programmes, or field research projects.
