Position: Consultant – Development of a Risk Management Framework

Organization: ACADES (Agribusiness Consultancy and Development Services)

Location: Lilongwe, Malawi

Contract Duration: 8 Weeks

Overview

ACADES is a youth-focused non-profit organization committed to creating sustainable income opportunities and building wealth among young people across rural Africa. Through access to finance and capacity strengthening, ACADES empowers youth engaged in agribusiness.

To strengthen its governance and risk management systems, ACADES is seeking a qualified Consultant to develop a comprehensive Risk Management Framework that will enable the organization to systematically identify, assess, mitigate, monitor, and report risks across all programmes and operational levels.

Key Deliverables

The successful consultant will be expected to deliver:

• Organizational Risk Assessment Report.
• Risk Management Policy.
• Organizational Risk Register.
• Risk Management Toolkit (templates and guidance).
• Training workshop for the Board, Management, and Staff.
• Final consultancy report summarizing the assignment and recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should possess:

• A postgraduate qualification in Risk Management, Business Administration, Governance, Finance, Organizational Development, or a related field.
• At least 7 years' relevant experience in designing risk management, governance, or internal control frameworks, preferably within NGOs, development programmes, or the agricultural sector.
• Strong understanding of governance, compliance, safeguarding, financial management, and organizational development.
• Knowledge of ISO 31000, COSO Enterprise Risk Management Framework, or equivalent risk management standards.
• Proven experience facilitating participatory risk assessments and strategic workshops.
• Excellent analytical, report writing, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
