POSITION: ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT
Location: Lilongwe
ROLE OVERVIEW
To provide accounting and financial support by ensuring timely and accurate recording of financial transactions, maintaining supplier accounts, assisting with statutory compliance, supporting stock control, and ensuring adherence to internal controls and accounting policies.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Record and process supplier invoices accurately in QuickBooks, ensuring timely reconciliation of supplier accounts and preparation of monthly aged payable reports.
Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE, and other statutory returns to the Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) while maintaining accurate compliance records.
Monitor and reconcile bar stock and sales, prepare weekly stock sheets, investigate variances, and strengthen inventory controls.
Perform supplier, Golf Union, Handicap, and other account reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial records.
Support month-end and year-end closing processes, maintain accounting records, and assist internal and external audits.
Ensure compliance with financial policies, maintain confidentiality, improve internal controls, and perform other duties assigned by the Finance Manager.
Qualifications and Experience
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
At least 2 years' experience in an accounting or finance role.
Knowledge of QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Membership with a recognized accounting professional body will be an added advantage.
