POSITION: ICT & WEB DEVELOPMENT INTERN


Department: ICT

Position: ICT & Web Development Intern

Duration: 3 Months

Working Hours: 5 hours per day, Monday–Friday, with flexibility as agreed with the ICT Department.

Work Arrangement: Remote

Stipend: Applicants must indicate their expected monthly stipend

About Liberty Affiliates

Liberty Affiliates is a Malawi-based consultancy and development organisation providing services in project implementation, monitoring and evaluation, research, digital solutions, and capacity building.

We are seeking a motivated and technically capable ICT & Web Development Intern to support the organisation’s website management, web development, and digital technology initiatives for a period of three months.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work under the ICT Department and will be responsible for:

Managing, updating, and maintaining the Liberty Affiliates website.

Developing new website pages, features, forms, and other web components.

Improving website design, responsiveness, functionality, and user experience.

Troubleshooting and resolving website errors, bugs, broken links, and other technical issues.

Uploading and managing website content, including organisational updates, reports, projects, vacancies, and other materials.

Ensuring the website works effectively across computers, tablets, and mobile devices.

Supporting basic website security, backups, performance optimisation, and SEO.

Using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and other relevant web development technologies.

Supporting Content Management Systems such as WordPress where applicable.

Supporting selected ICT and digital technology assignments within the organisation.

Exploring practical applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies to improve website management and organisational workflows.

Documenting website updates and providing brief progress reports on assigned tasks.

Qualifications & Skills

Applicants should have:

A Diploma, Bachelor’s degree, or be currently studying Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Web Development, ICT, or a related field.

Demonstrable practical knowledge of web development.

Knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Experience with WordPress or other Content Management Systems is an advantage.

Basic knowledge of databases and responsive web design is an advantage.

Interest in AI and emerging digital technologies.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Good communication and documentation skills.

Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.

Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.

MANDATORY WEB DEVELOPMENT DEMONSTRATION

Every applicant MUST demonstrate practical web development experience.

Applicants are required to submit links to ONE or TWO websites they have personally developed or substantially contributed to developing.

For each website, briefly provide:

Website name and link

Your role in developing it

Technologies/tools used

Key features or components you developed

Whether it is a personal, academic, organisational, or client project

Where the website was developed as part of a team, applicants must clearly explain their individual contribution.

Applications without evidence of web development work may not be considered.

REFEREES

Applicants must provide at least TWO referees.

At least ONE referee must be a lecturer, academic/project supervisor, or previous workplace supervisor who can verify the applicant’s technical skills, work ethic, and performance.

Email address

Applicants should ensure that referees are aware they may be contacted.

EXPECTED STIPEND

Applicants must indicate their expected monthly stipend in Malawi Kwacha (MWK) for the three-month internship.

The final stipend will be determined by Liberty Affiliates based on the applicant’s skills, qualifications, demonstrated ability, and internship arrangements.
