JOB OPPORTUNITY:
QUANTITY SURVEYOR
A reputable company based in Blantyre is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to fill the position of Quantity Surveyor.
Position: Quantity Surveyor
Location: Blantyre
Age: 35 years and above
Contract Type: Full-Time
Job Purpose:
To provide cost management and financial control throughout all stages of construction projects, ensuring that works are completed within budget, specifications, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documents.
- Conduct feasibility studies to estimate materials, time, and labour costs.
- Evaluate tenders and recommend suitable contractors.
- Manage project costs and ensure value for money throughout project life cycles.
- Conduct site visits for valuation, cost control, and project progress assessment.
- Prepare interim and final payment certificates.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, engineers, and architects on project financial matters.
- Prepare and maintain project reports and documentation.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Must have at least 5 years of practical experience in cost estimation, tendering, and contract administration.
- Membership with a recognized professional body (e.g., Board of Architects and Quantity Surveyors or equivalent) will be an added advantage.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software (AutoCAD, MS Project, and Quantity Surveying packages).
