POSITION: MARKET SPECIALIST
OVERVIEW
Tradeline Corporation is seeking a seasoned and visionary Team Leader of a Market Facilitation Initiative under AGRA – funded “Growing Market Opportunities to Youth and Women (GROW) project,” to lead the transformation of groundnut and soybean value chains in Malawi. The role focuses on strengthening commercial linkages between smallholder farmers and agro-processing firms, while driving inclusive growth and gender equity across project activities.
The candidate will identify and resolve project bottlenecks, enhance production and post-harvest efficiencies, and facilitate sustainable market relationships. The assignment is full-time for the duration of up to 12 months (renewable).
Key Responsibilities
Market Linkages: Strengthen partnerships between farmers and commodity off-takers through assessments, contracts, and structured engagement.
Offtaker Development: Provide business support to offtakers to enhance efficiency, investment readiness, and access to finance.
Value Chain Optimization: Identify and address bottlenecks, and strengthen production and market systems through capacity building, productivity and market access.
Inclusive Employment: Promote inclusion of youth and women through skills development and enterprise participation.
Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the project implementation team to ensure timely delivery of value chain project results.
Farmer Empowerment: Support farmers with access to quality inputs, training in climate-smart practices, and capacity building of cooperatives.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Rural Development, or related fields.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in market systems development, agribusiness facilitation, or agricultural value chains.
Proven experience in managing donor-funded projects.
Strong understanding of groundnut and soybean production systems, including post-harvest handling and processing.
Experience in business development, especially for SMEs in agribusiness.
Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and contract facilitation skills.
