POSITION: AGROFORESTRY FIELD SUPERVISOR 

Location: Phalombe

OVERVIEW 

Inter Aide is an international NGO that has been operating in Malawi for over 30 years, focusing on agriculture, agroforestry, community health, water access, and maintenance of water points.

The organization is implementing a project aimed at supporting smallholder families to establish agroforestry plantations for sustainable firewood, income generation, and environmental conservation, particularly around the Mulanje Mountain Forest Reserve.

1. Agroforestry Field Supervisor

Reference: AFP-AFFSPE-2026

Role Purpose:

To lead and supervise agroforestry activities, ensuring quality implementation, technical support, and achievement of project targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise Agroforestry Technicians and field activities

• Conduct regular field visits for quality assurance

• Provide technical guidance on nursery management, tree planting, FMNR, and direct sowing

• Oversee village nursery programs and seedling production

• Monitor farmer participation and adoption

• Review and validate field data and reports

• Support farmer training and capacity building

• Maintain strong relationships with communities and stakeholders

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Agroforestry, Forestry, Agriculture, Environmental Science, or related field

• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in agroforestry or related projects

• Experience supervising field staff

• Strong community mobilization and training experience

Key Skills

• Strong technical knowledge in agroforestry and land management

• Leadership and team supervision skills

• Good planning, problem-solving, and reporting skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to ride a motorcycle (advantage)

• Fluent in Chichewa and English
