The company has vacancies at one of its Project Sites in Rumphi as follows:


Job Title: Dezzi AD 120 Articulated Dump Truck (ADT) FN 2102 (1)

Nature of Contract: 12 months Fixed Term

Duty Station: Rumphi

Reporting to: Project Manager/Plant & Workshop Manager

Department: Fleet & Logistics

Job Purpose

The Dezzi AD120 Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Dezzi AD120 Articulated 

Dump Truck (ADT) for hauling soil, rock, gravel, sand, spoil material, and other construction materials on civil 

engineering, mining, and infrastructure projects. The operator ensures that production targets are achieved while 

maintaining compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards. ADTs are commonly used for 

transporting bulk materials over rough and uneven terrain on construction and mining sites. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Equipment Operation

• Operate the Dezzi AD120 safely and efficiently in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and 

company procedures. 

• Transport earth, aggregates, rock, sand, and other materials between loading and dumping points. 

• Position the truck correctly for safe loading by excavators and loaders. 

• Conduct safe tipping and dumping operations at designated disposal or fill areas. 

• Follow approved haul routes, traffic management plans, and site instructions. 

• Maintain production targets while ensuring safe operation. 

2. Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance

• Adhere to all Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) policies and procedures. 

• Wear and maintain appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). 

• Conduct risk assessments before commencing work. 

• Report hazards, incidents, accidents, and near misses immediately. 

• Stop operations where unsafe conditions exist. 

• Maintain awareness of other vehicles, personnel, and obstacles within the work area. 

3. Equipment Inspection and Maintenance

• Perform daily pre-start and shutdown inspections. 

• Check tyres, brakes, steering, lights, hydraulic systems, fluid levels, warning devices, and safety 

equipment. 

• Report defects, leaks, unusual noises, and mechanical faults promptly. 

• Maintain equipment cleanliness and operational readiness. 

• Assist maintenance personnel during servicing and repairs when required. 

• Complete daily inspection checklists and logbooks. 

4. Material Haulage Operations

• Ensure loads are evenly distributed and within safe payload limits. 

• Minimize material spillage during transportation. 

• Coordinate effectively with excavator operators, loaders, spotters, and supervisors. 

• Follow instructions regarding haul routes, dumping locations, and production priorities. 

• Operate safely on steep gradients, rough terrain, and adverse weather conditions.

5. Reporting and Documentation

• Maintain accurate records of operating hours, fuel usage, production quantities, and downtime. 

• Complete daily equipment utilization reports. 

• Report equipment damage, breakdowns, and operational concerns promptly. 

• Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and training sessions. 

6. General Duties

• Support earthworks, road construction, mining, quarrying, and infrastructure activities. 

• Maintain good housekeeping standards around the work area. 

• Perform any other duties assigned by management within the scope of the position. 

Qualifications

• Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE). 

Professional Qualifications

• Valid Heavy Equipment Operator Certificate from a recognized training institution. 

• Articulated Dump Truck (ADT) Operator Certificate. 

• Valid Malawi Driver's Licence (where applicable). 

• Occupational Health and Safety training certificate will be an added advantage. 

Experience

• Minimum of 3–5 years' experience operating Articulated Dump Trucks in construction, mining, 

quarrying, or earthworks environments. 

• Experience operating Dezzi, Bell, Caterpillar, Volvo, Komatsu, or equivalent articulated dump trucks. 

• Experience on road construction, dam construction, mining, bulk earthworks, or infrastructure projects. 

• Demonstrated ability to work safely in high-production environments. 

Skills and Competencies

• Strong knowledge of articulated dump truck operations. 

• Ability to perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance checks. 

• Knowledge of haul road safety and site traffic management. 

• Ability to interpret site instructions and production targets. 

• Good communication and teamwork skills. 

• Strong attention to safety and equipment care. 

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 

• Good record-keeping and reporting skills.
