JOB VACANCY: QUANTITY SURVEYOR
Company: Unik Construction Engineering (M) Ltd
Project: Periodic Maintenance/Rehabilitation of Golomoti–Monkey Bay/Mtakataka Turnoff (M10) Road to Bitumen Standard — 30 km, Lot 1
Location: Mangochi District, site-based
Contract Duration: 18 months
Reports to: Project Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly Interim Payment Applications (IPCs) in accordance with the contract, including accurate measurements agreed with the Engineer’s site team.
- Maintain the priced Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and record monthly quantities and valuations.
- Prepare and value variations and cost adjustments.
- Administer provisional sums, authorised compensation and dayworks in line with the Particular Specifications.
- Calculate price-adjustment claims using the contract formula and coefficients.
- Support the preparation and substantiation of claims, including haulage-distance and unforeseeable-condition claims.
- Monitor project costs and prepare cash-flow forecasts and cost reports for the Chief Quantity Surveyor.
- Maintain complete, auditable measurement and costing records.
- Liaise with the Engineer on joint measurements, site meetings and commercial correspondence.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- 5–8 years of Quantity Surveying experience, with significant exposure to road or civil infrastructure projects.
- Sound knowledge of FIDIC Conditions of Contract, preferably the 2017 edition.
- Knowledge of Malawi PPDA and Roads Authority contract practices.
- Strong skills in measurement, BOQ preparation, valuation and cost control.
- Proficiency in MS Excel; QS software experience is an advantage.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Working knowledge of Chichewa is an added advantage.
