POSITION: AUTO ELECTRICIAN 

Location: Rumphi 

OVERVIEW 

H.E. Jackson Engineering Ltd (HEJ) is one of the leading providers of engineering solutions 

in Malawi and serves all sectors of the economy including mining, energy, agriculture, 

construction and manufacturing. The company has an urgent requirement for the following 

Vacancies tenable at its Rumphi Project Site:

Job Title : Auto Electrician(1)

Nature of Contract : One Year Fixed Term

Duty Station : Rumphi

Reporting to : Workshop Manager

Department : Workshop

Job Summary

The Auto Electrician installs, maintains and repairs electrical and electronic systems in 

vehicles. They diagnose electrical faults and ensure all vehicle systems operate safely and 

efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

❖ Diagnose electrical problems in vehicles using diagnostic tools

❖ Repair and replace faulty wiring, fuses, relays and circuits

❖ Install and maintain vehicle electrical systems such as lighting, alarms and sound 

systems

❖ Test batteries, alternators and starter motors

❖ Repair electronic control systems (ECUs) and sensors

❖ Perform routine maintenance on vehicle electrical components

❖ Read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical manuals

❖ Ensure all repairs meet safety and manufacturer standards

❖ Keep records or repairs and parts used

❖ Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time

Experience

❖ 3+ years of experience as Auto Electrician in an industrial or plant workshop 

environment.

❖ Strong knowledge of automotive electrical systems

❖ Ability to use diagnostic equipment and tools.

Qualification

❖ Certificate or Diploma in Auto Electrical Engineering or Automotive Technology

❖ Apprenticeship or practical training preferred

❖ Experience working with cars, trucks or heavy machinery is an added advantage

❖ Valid driver’s licence
